Welcome to Our 9th Street Home — A Thoughtful Retreat in a Quiet, Slow-Growing Neighborhood

Thank you for choosing to stay here. This home has a different kind of story — one shaped not by years of living in it, but by years of intention, care, and a genuine desire to create a place where guests can feel truly at ease.

The Sekani neighborhood grew slowly over time. Salish Street was part of the first phase, and 9th Street came much later — after the development changed hands three times and took more than 15 years to fully complete. It's a soft, quiet community where neighbors keep to themselves, where the streets stay calm, and where people tend to emerge only on the Fourth of July or during the summer community garage sale. It's peaceful in a way that feels rare today.

Before we became the next caretakers of this home, it belonged to a family stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. I'm sure they created many wonderful memories here, and I imagine they still think fondly of this place. There's a sense of continuity in knowing that the home has supported families connected to service — something that resonates deeply with me as a U.S. Army veteran.

When I first walked inside, I felt an immediate sense of awe. The open-concept design, the thoughtful layout, the way the space flowed — it all struck me with possibility. My wife and I knew right away that this would be a meaningful investment, not just for short-term rental, but for our future. One day, when it's time to retire, we imagine ourselves here. It's the perfect size, beautifully designed, and built for easy living.

Over time, we added our own touches. The home originally came with a large garage, and we converted two-thirds of it into a comfortable fourth bedroom. We installed a utility sink in the laundry room and added a whole-house water filtration system for peace of mind. Every improvement was made with purpose — always thinking about comfort, convenience, and long-term quality.

We've been hosting here for two years now and have welcomed nearly a hundred families. Along the way, we've met wonderful guests from all walks of life. My wife insisted on adding a karaoke machine — partly for fun, partly because she likes the idea of sneaking over to sing when the house is empty. And as a veteran, I've decorated the home with a subtle patriotic, military-inspired theme that reflects a part of who I am.

I've stayed in short-term rentals across the country and around the world, and those experiences shaped the amenities we provide here. Everything you see — from the layout to the small conveniences — comes from real travel, real lessons, and a genuine desire to offer a stay that feels effortless and welcoming.

We hope you enjoy your time here. Whether you're resting, celebrating, exploring, or simply passing through, this home was prepared with care for guests just like you. And if your travels ever bring you back to this area, we'd be honored to host you again. Welcome to 9th Street. Make yourself at home.
